Jessops Bird of Prey Workshop Shropshire
I’d booked a Jessops workshop in 2018, with one of the last available dates in the year, unfortunately when the weekend came around, the weather was wet and windy so I rescheduled into 2019. So early April I went to my local Bird of Prey Centre in Shropshire
The format of the day was simple, basic camera info, always a waste of time, really as most know the basics, but I get why they do it. A static session with the more friendly birds in various staging and after lunch a flying sessions with several birds out in the open
This short blog entry covers a few images I like. I struggled a little with the Sony A7 III focusing with the Sony 70-300, which I later confirm is sharp and operates as expected. Even with the latest Firmware 3, Sony haven’t resolved the fact you just cant see the focus point unless you have focus, which means more missed shots than I would have liked. I did try various methods including Wide, Zone and Expanding point methods along with A and S, with several of the focus priority modes, just didn’t get the simple Canon 7D II focus point hit rate I was previously use to. Anyway here are a few examples
Overall the weather was perfect, the handlers and bird behaved and I got some reasonable shots. I concluded this is a specialist area, with fast random flight and movement, I figure I took far to few shots and finish saying thank you to Pete Walker and Jessops for running the day
